About me
Krystal Williams is a Music Education Professor at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She is currently the Band Director at Suitland High School Creative and Performing Arts Program. Williams attended Morgan State University as a Music Major 1999-2005, & as the Graduate Assistant from 2006-2009. She holds a B.A. in Music, and a M.M.E., and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the College of Notre Dame Maryland. She is currently the Eastern Division Chair for the Dr. William P. Foster Initiative. She has served as the Large Ensemble Chair for MMEA (Maryland), the Professional Development Chair for the Association for Black Women Band Directors and a member the Women Band Directors International Association and a member of the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women. Williams was recently inducted as a member into Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity’s Alpha Iota Chapter (Maryland) and Music Greeks Inc. She is currently working on clinics around sustaining music educators through practical 21st century methods reflective of a post pandemic world. Her career focus is in Arts Education Advocacy and Teacher Development for visual and performing arts programs in rural and urban public school districts.
